Hi Tyler:

As far as I know, if you want MPICH to use PGI instead of gcc, you'll need to re-compile it (you can get the source from the SRPM).  The MPICH which came with OSCAR is compiled with gcc, and thus the name of the package is "mpich-ch_p4-gcc".

I would suggest you compile it with "/opt/mpich-pgi-1.2.7" as the prefix (or something similiar) and once you successfully build it, you can push this directory out to all your compute nodes.  You probably want to play with switcher so that you can switch between different implementations of MPI (man switcher).

It would be great if you can write up a receipe on how to build MPICH-PGI under OSCAR - we'll put it up in our Wiki.

P.S. Perhaps we should talk to the PGI folks about creating a package again...

Cheers,

Bernard

Subject: [Oscar-users] MPICH Compilers

Oscar Users,

Is it possible (without screwing things up) to run MPICH's configure script after OSCAR has been installed?  I would do this to specify the use of specific compilers (PGI compilers).

Thanks.
