Has the system been updated?  Like, do you have CD's/DVD's with all
the rpms that are currently installed on the systems?  I think you
could probably manage if you had all that.  At worst you might have to
rebuild some of the oscar packages if some dependencies were wrong.
Its the package prerequisites that are usually the problem with
updates, they make it hard to install the rpms that we ship
precompiled with OSCAR sometimes.

I would say it is worth a try if you can find two non-critical
machines to try it out on.  You could do it even safer by installing a
RHEL3 VM, updating it (assuming you have some spare licenses) and then
installing OSCAR on there.  I believe VMWare server is free currently,
if you want to go that route.
