I just tried with OSCAR 5.0 beta2 and succeeded. So I wonder what's wrong.

Did you have any older OSCAR version installed before? Could it be that some
old packages are disturbing the installation? Could you please send the output
of:
  rpm -q yum yume createrepo packman-depman
? I have
   yum-2.4.0-3
   yume-2.4-1
   createrepo-0.4.3-5.1e
   packman-depman-2.8-1

In case of trouble we actually recommend to set the environment variable
  export OSCAR_VERBOSE=3
This reveals more details in the log.
