Hey all,
Michael on the oscar-devel list helped me out. :)
Basically, I used the UYOK, but also overrode the modeprobe.conf and forced
the load of the drivers in the pre-install scripts.
Turns out I also have a hardware problem, go figure, but this at least got
me to a point where I could prove it was a hardware error.

hmmm... I haven't ever tried UYOK so can't help you much - sorry.
did you try the manual UYOK build? page 25 of
http://oscar.openclustergroup.org/public/docs/oscar5.0/OSCAR5.0_Install_Manual.pdf
maybe that'll spit out some errors and give you hints as to what's going
wrong.
