Hi!

I am a chemist, but I need to set up a cluster. I am rather clueless about
OSCAR and Linux (which is quite a bad combination to be ignorant of in this
case!), but I have a desire to learn, so please be patient with my foolish
questions... :-)

I am confused by the concept of "repo's" and " rpm's ". I know I should
configure YUM according to my network, and I do that from the distro DVD's ?
Then I also need to add:

[oscar]

name= OSCAR for SLES $releasever - $basearch

baseurl=http://oscar.gforge.inria.fr/yum/dists/sles$releasever/$basearch/

        http://oscar.gforge.inria.fr/yum/dists/sles$releasever/noarch/

enabled=1

[oscar-source]

name=OSCAR for SLES $releasever - Source

baseurl=http://oscar.gforge.inria.fr/yum/dists/sles$releasever/source/SRPMS/

enabled=0

in the /etc/yum.repos.d/: file, am I right? To give you an indication of how
clueless I am: where it says "$releasever " in the above, do I type that in
just like that, or do I replace it with say "10" and "$basearch" with
"x86_64"?

I also need to copy all the rpm's from my OS installation DVD, hm?

Is there something more I need to do with repo's? Must I also add what is
mentioned in the InstallGuide Chapter 3.3.1 to the /etc/yum.conf.d directory
(for my specific distro)? What is the baseurl for SLES if I have to?

I will be using SLES 10. Someone said that I needed to download the
repo-common and repo-distro for my specific distribution. So will it be okay
if I download
oscar-repo-common-rpms-5.1rc1.tar.gz<http://downloads.sourceforge.net/oscar/oscar-repo-common-rpms-5.1rc1.tar.gz?use_mirror=puzzle>
 and
oscar-repo-suse-10.2-x86_64-5.1rc1.tar.gz<http://downloads.sourceforge.net/oscar/oscar-repo-suse-10.2-x86_64-5.1rc1.tar.gz?use_mirror=surfnet>
 from
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=9368&package_id=9438&release_id=608805
?

In Chapter 2.4 of the InstallGuide it mentions SELinux, but it seems SuSe
doesn't have that. Do I need to do something with AppArmor?

Thanks!

Rion
