I cheated a little. I copied the initrd.img file used to tftp boot the PS3 to
the image boot directory over the one that is generated automatically. This
solved my boot up freeze problem. It appears that the cluster is now up and
working. I am writing step-by-step instructions for a PS3 cluster using
OSCAR5.1rc1 and YDL 5.0. Would anyone benefit from this? Most of the ones I
found online seemed to be missing a couple of key components that someone not
so savvy in Linux and OSCAR might not have picked up right away (speaking of
myself).

David,

You will have to execute the mkinitrd command in a chroot environment.
Several emails have been posted lately regarding that specific point and i do
not know enough of the PS3 configuration to give you the exact command to
execute.

I just modified OSCAR-6.x so this is done automatically but this is not
available in OSCAR-5.x.

Regards,
