I have a rather basic question. I have been tasked to create an HPC from a
group of Playstation 3 (PS3). The PS3 are PPC64 and running YDL 6.2. The
server (head) is a Dell quad-core i686 running Fedora Core 12. I have
configured this Beowulf cluster using static IP addresses for each node
machine while the server has a dual Ethernet card - one to the outside world
and the other to the cluster using another static IP address. I have loaded
OpenMPI on all of the machines. I have disabled the built-in firewalls on
all the machines (the server is behind a corporate firewall, so no worries
about being attacked from the outside) and have set up NFS on them also. I
believed that I was ready to start programming an MPI application, but was
doing a bit of research and came across an article about OSCAR. I am mildly
familiar with OSCAR, but am not an expert. I'm wondering if anyone has
tried to install/use OSCAR on a Fedora Core 12 head and YDL 6.2 Nodes? I
don't have a lot of time to experiment on whether it will work or not and
don't want to turn this into a research project. Anyone have any opinions
on whether the current release of OSCAR will be compatible with my cluster?
Thanks.
