Can you please send updates when a problem is fixed on your side and does not require any bug fix on the OSCAR side? That will allow me to focus on the real issues.
About the mysql-server issue, it is because a meta-package is/was actually half-broken (mysql-server) so we could not use it. I did not check whether Debian/Ubuntu developers fixed it. As a temporary solution, can you please edit the /usr/share/oscar/prereqs/base/prereq.cfg and in the [debian:5:*] block replace mysql-server-5.0 by mysql-server-5.1.
