Absolutely! This topic is *very* interesting to me. > P.s. - Some of those problems will be solved once Firefox uses > XULRunner, won't they? Well... They should be. Heck, they're probably solvable now if we just write some code. I know that Benjamin Smedberg (http://benjamin.smedbergs.us/blog/), the single core Mozilla developer of XulRunner, would be pretty excited to get help. I talked to him a while ago about SwfRunner and it seemed like he thought it'd be trivial to implement. I mean, basically SwfRunner is just a way of packaging XulRunner. If XulRunner works, SwfRunner would be done today. While I know that getting Firefox to use XulRunner is a stated goal, I'm not sure that it's a priority. I'm interested to see how long this idea takes implement. I hope quickly, because I like it. Another thing about XulRunner to be aware of is that, to my understanding, the packaging model hasn't been decided. Last I heard, Benjamin was trying to decide if it made more sense to ship one instance of XulRunner that every Xul app ran on top of (think Xul player) or to bundle XulRunner with every deployment. There are pros and cons to both paths, and if you have an opinion I'm sure that Benjamin and the Xul heads would be interested. All that said, you should look into pure Xul development. It's pretty powerful stuff. With OOP AS1 experience, Flash programmers are uniquely suited for the Xul development experience. XulRunner sans the Flash player is still a great piece of software. Personally, I can't wait for JS2.0 (which is AS3.0) to be complete and integrated into XulRunner. AS3.0 is a great language. Apparently, Python is close to working in XulRunner. Here's the link: http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/roadmap/archives/2006/02/js_and_python_news.html#more. Have fun with it all.
