Thanks for the tip Evert, however, as I said in my last msg, I don´t think I would need to use the MSN Messenger protocal, here´s a use case:

- The user would install my MSN Messenger client plug-in;
- The plug-in would talk to my server through SOAP and retrieve some useful information
- The plug-in would then show a dialog with the event of the next week to the user, The dialog would also have a button "send this info to all my buddies" that would send, through the MSN API the data as a msn message to all the users friends/contacts.

In sum: My server wouldn´t need to send data directly to a MSN client in using the MSN protocol, actually, I didn´t think of it before, I firstly though about using SOAP and do the rest client-side... however, any suggestions are welcome as this is a field that I have no past experience!

Matt,

I´ve taken a quick look at jabber, but it doesn´t seem to be what I want. What I want to do is write a plug-in for the MSN Messenger client (maybe through MSN-Plus! plug-in as it seems to be easier) and then consume my application server web services so I can offer some of my website services from within and integrated into MSN Messenger. Form what I could see, jabber is a API to develop new messenger clients, I don´t want to do that.

Thanks anyhow!

Hello friends!

I´m still in the middle of a RIA development both client-side and server-side. The server-side runs on CakePHP + CakeAMFPHP. The RIA is an online events/album portal and the client-side uses arp/arpx. While chating in MSN I though "Why not try to develop a MSN plug-in for some of my application server services for MSN/MSN-PLUS!?"... however, I still don´t have enough information on how could I do that. I´m thinking about using MSN-Plus! API as it seems easier and C#.

Here are the possibilites I thought would work:

- I could use a embedded flash in the C# plugin app and make it connecto to Flash Remoting services...
- I could make the remoting classes SOAP-aware and use some .Net library (don´t know what yet) to consume the web-service
- Any more ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Marcelo.
