Well,

I don't think the synthesis is the problem either. I think the point is
more to actually emulate the sid's sound, and all these not really
registered or "illegal" instructions it can handle. Also, I am having
problems finding some good source material on this.

Implementing the SID shouldn't be too hard..the synthesis stuff is
fairly 
straightforward. I've recently been hacking away at some real time
synthesis 
stuff with flash and would happily join in the fun..
