on a related note - i was having real trouble loading a v2 flash 8
swf into a as3 app. The combo boxes stopped working altogether,
I switched to the smx set http://osflash.org/smx and every-things
working again. Maybe this option can work for you?

If your movie with v2 components is being loaded by a movie with a
v1 component in the library you will get this type of behavior.

filled from a dinamically generated XML, the combobox give city
names to see a list of radios stations, that is ok, but when i
click the dropdown button of the combo and try to scroll the list
with the bottom arrow ( or the up ) when i release the mouse the
combo dropdown list closes and i can't select a city.
