Hey Phil, Sorry for the late reply. You might be better off asking Red5 specific question on the Red5 list.
Anyway, the answer is to use either Flash 8, Flash 9 or Flex. You could even build it using Flash MX if you had to. Basically just build it as if you were connecting to the Flash Media Server and it should work just fine for you.
