Ok, I will not cross-post anymore. I respect your (and other subscriber's)
views on this subject.

above you said it was related to Flex,

Common, they way they put it it seems it is there just to "show they are
supporting linux". This release does not even have all the features from
Moxie, and I ask you: Why? I would rather try to run the Windows version (as
it is java after all) as some guy did some time ago. This is unfair.

The raw truth is that Linux is not yet seen as a professional platform for
Flash/Flex development. And as Keith mentioned above, it is due to
commercial reasons indeed. But this commercial aspect is driven by the
community of clients, and clients have a mindset and most of Flash/Flex
deselopers, while very smart and creative, still are confined to Windows.

This "Windows-oriented" mindset propagates even to the FDT folks. FDT is an
awesome product, I own the 1.5 license. However, they claim FDT is
cross-platform, and indeed it is. But some features are Windows-only (not
even Mac OSX is supported) such as their SWF viewer.

The objective of this "rant" is to show that freedom of choice is something
fundamental. Some years ago, I would not even question the use of Windows -
Linux was indeed for kernel hackers and other low-level bit-freaks.
Nowadays, the Linux community has grown into a very diverse one (just look
at the ubuntu forums for instance). Linux is a viable creative platform, it
just needs more companies such as Adobe to **really** transparently support
it. After some time, you might even want to learn some kernel-hacking, why
not? :)
