Hi list,

Just a little story that most of you don;t care about, but might save
someone time in the future.

PROBLEM: Old open source version of Screenweaver (not current haXe
version) doesn't seem to work if you have player 9 installed. I mean
neither your applications nor Screenweaver itself will open.

I found out this after uninstalling Flash player [1] and reinstalling
player 9 for IE (This version uses IE's ActiveX). My feeling is that
SW is looking for the player in the wrong place (either phisically or
in Windows registry). So I had to install legacy player 8 for IE [2]
and i was up and running again.

And yes, it was a good opportunity to start using haXe version; I
*almost* achieve it. Had the haXe backend working and replicated the
necessary bits of old SW AS2 API BUT this application loads other
people's swfs compiled to player 7 that rely in old XML.mapID hack
which you loose when compiling to player 8 (haXe version requires
ExternalInterface). To sum up, i needed to keep using old SW.

BTW, I have in my box latest SW installer and patches, and I'm
wondering that they should be uploaded somewhere (ideally with SW'
source code too). Screenweaver.org should be the right place, I know,
but contacting Edwin seems not possible any more. Any ideas?

Cheers!

Juan
