Hi Guys,

Don't think this ones is powerflasher's fault. The Eclipse Foundation every year release a major update of the Eclipse platform that unfortunately breaks things on different OSes. The cross-platform portability of Eclipse is really a myth. In order for Eclipse to respond quickly and have the host OS native look and feel. The eclipse team decided to use SWT which while cross-platform is very platform dependent as well. Because of this, there are parts of Eclipse or Eclipse plugins that work better on windows ( the developer platform of choice for the Eclipse Foundation ). Rest assured like in the past, Powerflasher will probably come out with an update really soon to address any changes in the Eclipse platform.

As for Ganymede on OS X. I haven't tried it yet but I do know you can have several versions of eclipse on the same machine in harmony without weirdness. For example I have Eclipse 3.1, Eclipse Europa, FDT Standalone and Flex Builder 3 all in one machine without conflicts.

Cheers,
:)
Sam

Shame on Powerflasher, they focus the FDT product line almost entirely for Windows, which sucks (both their attitude and the OS). I'm on Linux and didn't buy it exactly because they don't officially support it.

You'd better post this question on their boards.

Hi guys,

This is deeply irritating. I foolishly decided to try out the new
Eclipse IDE on my new Mac, only to discover that it seems to be
incompatible with FDT3.

This is really annoying. Almost as annoying as when Firefox decides
that all my add-ons (or whatever the opensource maketing/UI department
have decided to change the name to at any given time) are suddenly out
of date and I lose core functionality in my browser until someone
rewrites a config file or whatever.

Argh!

Anyhoo..

Has anyone managed to get FDT 3 working with Eclipse Ganymede on OSX?
I'm kind of out on a limb here.

OR, failing that, how do I roll back to an older version of Eclipse on
OSX? I've tried installing an older version of the SDK and it just
launches Ganymede, singleton stylee.

Deeply frustrating, as I am something of a mac-tard.

Any hints appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Alias
