AFAIK VLC can't play FLV over RTMP streams.

It's not too hard though to parse an FLV over RTMP stream to
extract the FLV which you can then pass to VLC or mplayer or
ffplay (insert FLV-capable video player of choice...) I posted
some hacked-up and nasty but nevertheless functional code for
doing that, it probably doesn't cover all cases but it does
work and could be modified.

So all that remains is to write the RTMP client to make the
connection in the first place... looking at the spec and the
tcpdump of port 1935 it doesn't seem like that should be too
hard either.
