Greetings,

I am looking to host some rather long videos and would like please
some recommendations for appropriate software to use.

On the client side, some of the videos are a few hours long, so
I would like to use a player object which has excellent facilities
for seeking, fast-forwarding/rewinding at different speeds, pause
and resume, and anything else that makes it more convenient when
watching a very long video.

Server-side the streaming server needs to be as lightweight and
simple as possible with the minimum memory usage. The server is
a Linux box (Debian) running apache2... so it needs to be
compatible with apache2, and preferably available as a .deb.

The videos are already in .flv format. Indexing them and
generating the web pages for them I will handle myself using
php/mysql. I want to stream them over plain http, nothing fancy.

Any recommendations for player object and streaming server
would be much appreciated, bearing in mind that apart from a
little RTMP hacking I know bugger all about streaming.

TIA,
