Hi Carl, My recommendations: -look into imagemagick (convert command on the commandline) -look into osflash.org's site to see if you like any of the tools mentioned (for introductory slides see: http://www.slideshare.net/gsvolt I covered my favorite tools in the most recent slides) -look into opensource.adobe.com to see if flex sdk is a fit at all
In linux most of the flash related tools lean towards using command line. I'm recommending imagemagick as it is pretty exhaustive in the kinds of operations you can perform on an image file (which you most likely own). flex's coding in actionscript and mxml can aid you to come up with a potential solution. Aral Balkan <http://aralbalkan.com> on his osflash.org site mentions swftools <http://www.swftools.org/>using which (again on command line) it is possible to input many jpg's and get a .swf out of it - think slideshow. Useful if you want basic stuff for your site it could be ..
