Hello, The OpenVRML plugin will not build with anything later than 0.14.3 due to changed API and dependency on Boost. This is intentional. Upgrading to 0.17.9 will *not* help. The compilation issues with 0.14.3 are described here (minor updates for modern compilers): http://www.openscenegraph.org/projects/osg/wiki/Support/PlatformSpecifics/Linux It is described for Linux, but that patch should make OpenVRML compile fine.
