Hi Brian,
Sorry about replying to an eajavascript:BOQ('javascript:abPreSubmit
("h_ShimmerSend")')rlier message. I thought changing the subject and
removing the message text would be OK. I'm curious how your client knew
that I used an old osgOcean message.
Rookie mistake :-)
There are headers in the e-mail message that tell e-mail clients that a
given message was a reply to some other message, using message IDs.
Modern e-mail clients (I use Thunderbird) can use this information to
thread messages (i.e. list them in tree form instead of in a flat list).
If these headers are absent, then the client will generally try to match
subject lines with other messages to see if a message belongs in an
existing thread, but your client apparently sets those headers correctly.
I find threading messages helps me follow conversations better, as
previous messages in a thread are always easy to find (above the current
message). But of course, not everyone knows about this.
It's not so much a problem when the message was a reply to a short
thread, but you chose to reply to one of the last messages in a very
long discussion... :-)
Anyways, no harm done, I was just saying so you know but whether you
choose to do things differently in the future is up to you, and won't
influence the help you get, of course.
BTW, using gl_FragData[0] didn't work :(
As I said, it's been discussed before, and I don't recall the specifics.
Though I'm pretty sure that was part of the answer, there's surely
something I don't remember, so you might as well search the archives.
Sorry I can't help more...
