Chris, putting the username & password in the URL didn't make any difference. In fact I still had to enter the username/password into the popup that appeared.
Norman, no I haven't tried setting up any SSH stuff beyond doing the default TortoiseSVN install. Try the steps under "Testing SSH with TortoiseSVN (client)" I just repeatedly get an error popping up: "PuTTY Fatal Error" "Network error: Connection timed out". Does that suggest anything to you?
