I have so many posts to get through I'll not dive into getting source code to build, could you explain what you mean by distortion, a series of screen shots would be a good way to explain this. I would also recommend looking up on the issues of rendering transparent objects with z buffer based systems like OpenGL/hardware. This topic has been covered many times in the OSG community with lots of explanations and suggestions.
