Wow, you're right! Batch Build is always serial, but a simple project build
runs in parallel.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the simple project build only builds that
project and all its dependencies, correct? Since no projects depend on the
plugins, does this imply that there's no way to build the plugins in
parallel?

To rephrase the question: Has anyone found a way to build the plugins in
parallel in VS8?

Hi Paul,

Are you building from the Batch Build window? That seems to do a sequential
build. I'm successfully building in parallel from Solution Explorer or the
menu though.

Hey Paul

Uhm on my work machine 2-cpu Hyper threaded, OSG when building shows all
CPUs getting hit ( 4 with the HT), I'm using VS8.0.50727.42

One thing we found is that to limit VS's maximum numbr of parallel builds to
2 (See Tools/Options/Project and Solutions/Build and Run) otherwise VS for
us becomes pretty unstable

Best Regards

Gordon

Hi Folks -- I know VS8 is capable of compiling in parallel on dual processor
systems. However, when I import the OSG VC6 workspace file into VS8, this
feature appears to be disabled by default (at least on my system) --
everything compiles serially, leaving my other processor idle. I have been
unable to find a switch that lets me enable it. Does anyone know where this
can be set?

(Sorry for this slightly off-topic nature of this post.)

Thanks,
