Yes Producer is still required to build osgProducer and associated
examples - about 1/3rd of the examples are still Producer based.
Once osgViewer is working well across platforms, and all the examples
are moved across I'll move the osgProducer out into separate library.
This will happen this month at some point.
Right now you could avoid compiling osgProducer and associated
examples and therefore not need Producer. By default the OSG will try
to compile these though so you'd have to tweak settings to avoid the
Producer dependency.
