2.4.6 is required for Windows due to bug fixes. OSX requires the CVS
version. Standard unix build can probably get away with older
versions. If so we could probably add a platform check w.r.t version
number.
I had just recently tried to use 2.2.3 on Ubuntu, and it didn´t work. I
had to upgrade to 2.4.
