Hi Belthil,
.osg doesn't store image files, only external filenames, so if you created
the image programatically then it won't have any external file to refer to.
The other possibility is that the image could have been removed at runtime
when that texture then texture download the imagery - this is the unref'd on
apply feature of osg::Texture, which is switch on by the Optimizer.
The .ive format does support writing out of imagery, its also more compact
and faster to load than the .osg format making it much more suitable for
paging.

PagedLOD seems to be very interesting! I tried to load a database
whose the extension is .osg, and the database is displayed. But the points
stocked into the database are displayed just like pixels. And yet, the
points are pointsprites and they are not displayed as pointsprites. I have
noticed that in the .osg file there is not the link to the picture
file (.jpg) for the texture... What is the solution to tell the .osg file to
