Hi All,

This summer and well in to the Autumn I'll be doing a lot of work on
the VirtualPlanetBuilder project, this project is building on the
osgTerrain/osgdem code that was in OSG-1.2. Details about the now
separate project can be found at:

Main project page:
 http://www.openscenegraph.com/projects/VirtualPlanetBuilder

Development plans:

http://www.openscenegraph.com/projects/VirtualPlanetBuilder/wiki/DevelopmentPlans

Back in Feburary I moved all the old osgTerrain/osgdem and GDAL code
out of the core OSG but kept the old unix build system, and made a
0.9.0 release.

Today I ported the VirtualPlanetBuilder project across to using CMake
exclusively, the port across mainly involved copy and pasting CMake
files from the core OSG across into VPB and then
ammending/removing/adding where appropriate. Things now compile
cleanly under Linux.

As I only have Linux dev machines here I'll need other people to test
it out, fingers cross CMake will do its magic and we'll have a clean
Windows build and all the rest of the OSG will fall in line easily :-)

Once we have VPB working well on the main OSG platforms I'll tag a
0.9.1, then go for a couple of rev's of dev versions making sure that
things work OK across the platforms, I'll then make a 1.0 release,
hopefully in the next week or two. VPB is much smaller than the OSG
so it shouldn't require much work compared to the OSG.

Once VPB-1.0 is out I'll will turn to do a lot of design work on VPB,
and steadily start introducing a new framework that will initially sit
along side the old DataSet classes, but then once it fully functioning
will replace them completely. There will also be replacements for
osgdem.

Thanks in advance for you help in getting 1.0 ready :-)
Robert.
