Ok, I've created a proposed OSGeoLive background image:

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/v3ub9k64w9oolwx/AAARy2MkorXCCwo2R9mm9rXoa?dl=0

It:

* Has an OSM background of Tanania

* Includes a giraffe (2 even) and a nice tree under a CC0 license https://www.publicdomainpictures.net/en/view-image.php?image=57421&picture=giraffe-silhouette-at-sunset

I created with gimp, and source file is available if you would like to improve the image.

Cheers, Cameron

Hi OSGeo Live people,

There are already good suggestions.

If you need more, I would propose:

- using OSM data of Dar, but not the OSM base rendering
- maybe another existing rendering (1 example:
https://opentopomap.org/#map=15/-6.81422/39.30086)
- some examples of real map here: http://ramanihuria.org/data/
- maybe asking a skilled QGIS user to render a map

- if you want to compose an image, you could go with pictures of people
- I do not like the idea of animals
- only, why not the national animal, the giraffe

All the best

Benoit - althio

I also like the idea of the transparent image of an elephant with the map
on it.
