SAT is an IBM technology that was conceived in 2001, but has only recently
been contributed to the Eclipse OHF project. SAT has been used in many
diverse OSGi applications and in my experience, people familiar with OSGi
ServiceListeners and ServiceTrackers typically find it to be a better fit.
The goal of SAT is to free the developer from having to worry about the
OSGi plumbing details, allowing them to focus on the complexities of their
application. If you're trying to write an OSGi service-oriented
application you're simply not going to want to write the OSGi specific
code again and again to handle dynamic OSGi services.
>>Would you encourage a new OSGi developer, to try SAT from his first
steps?
Absolutely. If you're new to OSGi, SAT is ideally suited to you since it
allows you to be productive quickly while building well behaved OSGi
bundles. Building well behaved OSGi bundles "by hand" using
ServiceListeners or ServiceTrackers is actually quite tricky.
My advice to you is to read the documentation, download the latest build,
work the tutorial and kick the tires yourself. As the primary author of
this toolkit I'm naturally biased, so don't just take my word for it.
Start here, where you'll find links to the download, and the documentation
viewable outside of Eclipse...

I hope this helps

[osgi-dev] SAT recommendation
Hi all,
Continuing my exploration of OSGi, I found that ServiceActivatorToolkit
developed by BandXi would make my life easier with the service registry
and all the matters that come to you, when you hear about a bundle that
is importing services.
/*SAT, for those who never heard of it, is a part of OHF project (dont
know if it started as part of this project) (look it up, at eclipse.org)*/
Would you encourage a new OSGi developer, to try SAT from his first steps?
Is it safe to dump the servicetracker and switch to SAT method at this
early steps or would you suggest to keep on with the first?
Thank you very much in advance!
A fan of OSGi middleware,
Aggelos Mpimpoudis
My Best Regards @all
