Iraqi exports hit year-low in December

LONDON: Sabotage attacks on oil facilities reduced Iraqâs crude exports in
December to 1.16 million barrels per day (bpd), the lowest exports for any
month in 2004, shipping sources said yesterday.
Exports have not been that low since September 2003, when shipments totalled
930,000 bpd as Iraq ramped up oil flows after the US-led invasion in March
that year. Average exports for 2004 were 1.53 million bpd, down from pre-war
levels of close to 2 million bpd.
Shipping lists compiled by Reuters revealed Iraq exported around 35.8
million barrels from both its southern ports and through its northern pipeline
to
Turkey in December. Around 33.2 million barrels were exported through the
southern ports of Basra and Khor Al Amaya, down from just over 35 million
barrels
in November because of bad weather and power outages. â Reuters
