Czech spy passed secrets to Belarus A Czech military intelligence agent has been identified in the Prague media as a spy for Belarus who passed NATO secrets to the communist regime in Minsk. The Hospodarske Noviny newspaper reported Feb. 28 that Roman Liener worked as an unofficial cover agent who operated front companies for Czech intelligence. He was in charge of running companies that were used to finance Czech military intelligence operations. Liener was arrested and charged with stealing money from the cover firms. He also is suspected of supplying secrets to Belarus, although he has not been charged with espionage. Czech parliamentarians who were briefed on the case said it is the worst spy scandal for the Czech Republic since independence from the Soviet bloc in 1989. ------------------------ Yahoo!
