Double-tap to the head would have taken care of this problem.if everyone in
the church wasn't unarmed.(or un-handed). In any event, he was no "Samurai
swordsman" but a Darwinian reject with a samurai sword.

Samurai swordsman kills woman, hacks man's hand off

April 4, 2005 - 11:42AM

Sydney Morning Herald

A man with a samurai sword stormed into a German church, killing one woman,
hacking a man's hand off and seriously wounding two others, say police.

About 65 members of Stuttgart's Tamil community, about half of them
children, were in the middle of a service in the Protestant church when the
25-year-old man attacked, police investigator Michael Kuehner said.

He killed a 43-year-old woman, wounding others who got in his way, including
another woman who suffered life-threatening injuries, and two men, one of
whom lost a hand, Kuehner said.

A neighbour, who would not give her name, said she saw a woman covered in
blood run screaming from the church and into the street before emergency
crews reached her.

Police called to the scene subdued the man with pepper spray before
arresting him.

The suspect, a Tamil from Stuttgart, was motivated by "personal reasons" in
the attack, Kuehner said, adding that the man had made unspecified threats
before Easter.

The man stormed into the church just before 4 pm, wildly waving a sword,
before going on the rampage, according to witness reports, police
spokeswoman Sybille Ahlborn said.

Tamils are a predominantly Hindu minority in Sri Lanka and southern India.

The group has regularly rented the Stuttgart church to hold its services.
