Fifth Suspect Arrested in Lodi al-Qaeda Terror Probe
Federal authorities have arrested a fifth suspect in connection with a
widening probe of an alleged al-Qaeda terrorist cell in Lodi.

Authorities with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement confirmed the
arrest Wednesday of Mohammed Hassan Adil, 19, of Lodi on unspecified
immigration violations.

Adil is the son of Lodi's Farooquia Islamic Center leader Muhammed Adil
Khan. Khan is one of four other men being held by federal officials for
their alleged roles in a scheme to carry out terrorist attacks against U.S.
targets, according to an FBI affidavit released Wednesday.

Khan was arrested over the weekend along with the Lodi Mosque's religious
leader Shabbir Ahmed. The two, both being held on immigration violations,
came to the attention of federal agents after they allegedly met with Umer
Hayat, one of two men who the FBI say were involved in a terrorist cell.

Umer Hayat, 47, and his son Hamid, 22, were arrested Tuesday by FBI agents.
Hamid Hayat is accused of having undergone six months of firearms and
explosives training in a terrorist camp in Pakistan, and then lying to
federal officials about having done so. Umer Hayat, who works as an ice
cream vendor in the Lodi area, is accused of lying to federal authorities
about his son's involvement with al-Qaeda and financing the activities of
terrorists.

The investigation into Hamid Hayat began on May 29, according to an FBI
affidavit, when he flew from Pakistan to San Francisco. After the plane left
South Korea, it was discovered Hayat was on the federal government's "No
Fly" list.

The plane was diverted to Tokyo. An FBI agent interviewed Hayat and he was
moved to the "Selectee List" which allowed him to continue his trip to the
U.S.

After Hayat arrived in the U.S. he was interviewed Friday by the FBI at the
bureau's Sacramento office. Documents allege he denied attending terrorist
training camps. A lie detector test indicated deception and after two more
hours of questioning, investigators say he admitted to attending a Jihadist
terrorist camp run by Al Qaeda for six months from 2003-04.

Hayat's father was also interviewed Friday and told agents his son was not a
terrorist, according to the U.S. attorney. Investigators said he gave his
son a $100 monthly allowance while the younger man was at the camp and that
he paid for his son's flights.

Hayat, 47, is being held for allegedly lying to federal agents about
supplying money to allow his son Hamid Hayat, 22, to train in a Pakistani
terrorist camp.

During an FBI lie dectector test Saturday, the younger Hayat allegedly
admitted to attending the Jihadist camp run by Al Qaeda for six months from
2003-04. Hayat also allegedly confessed the training with firearms and
explosives was carried out with an eventual goal of committing terrorist
acts within the United States, according to the FBI.

"Fair Use" criteria established in Section 107 of the Copyright Act of 1976.
The principle of "Fair Use" was established as law by Section 107 of The
Copyright Act of 1976. "Fair Use" legally eliminates the need to obtain
permission or pay royalties for the use of previously copyrighted materials
if the purposes of display include "criticism, comment, news reporting,
teaching, scholarship, and research." Section 107 establishes four criteria
for determining whether the use of a work in any particular case qualifies
as a "fair use". A work used does not necessarily have to satisfy all four
criteria to qualify as an instance of "fair use". Rather, "fair use" is
determined by the overall extent to which the cited work does or does not
substantially satisfy the criteria in their totality. If you wish to use
copyrighted material for purposes of your own that go beyond 'fair use,' you
