Chechen terrorists announce capture of spy Islamist extremists in Chechnya announced last week they had kidnapped a Maltese national who they claim was spying for the United States. Al Qaida websites announced that the Chechen group Islamic Badr Brigades had arrested Hajiya Khalil in a European country, and described him as "an American agent." Khalil had a briefcase containing documents on Al Qaida in Saudi Arabia and Iraq, according to the announcement. The website published a photo of the captured man, who was being held hostage. The statement said the man "provided the enemy with critical information about the movements last year of one of the groups in the land of the Two Holy Mosques [Saudi Arabia] and that he was asked to bring information about our brothers in the land of the two rivers [Iraq]." The group said it would not negotiate for the man's release and that it planned to turn him and his briefcase over to Al Qaida. It said he would be "butchered like sheep." The incident was reported in the Arabic newspaper Al-Sharq al-Awsat. ------------------------ Yahoo! Groups Sponsor --------------------~--> DonorsChoose.
