TORONTO -- A section of the Toronto subway system has reopened after being
closed due to the reported discovery of a suspicious package.
The Toronto Transit Commission says six stations were closed just north of
the downtown core.
Spokeswoman Marilyn Bolton says the closure began just after 9 a.m. and
lasted until about 10:30 a.m.
Shuttle buses were being used to transport subway passengers between the
closed stations.
Toronto police Const. Wendy Drummond says police were sent to a station
after a transit supervisor spotted a suspicious package.
But Drummond could not say what type of package was involved or whether it
was discovered on a subway train, the station platform or another location.
