Diplomatic breakthrough a result of Gaza withdrawal The world's second most populous Muslim nation, Pakistan, has decided "to engage Israel" diplomatically in recognition of its withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, Pakistani Foreign Minister Khursheed Kasuri said at a press conference Thursday in Turkey, after meeting publicly with his Israeli counterpart for the first time. Israeli Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom called the meeting a "major breakthrough," towards Israel's strategic objective of establishing relations with the wider Muslim world adding that it was "no coincidence" the meeting took place in Turkey a "great Muslim democracy and Israel's long-standing friend."
