What is relevant is whether White House officials violated the
Espionage Act and the stature prohibiting release of CIA covert agent
names.
The press release is a red herring designed to divert attention from
the possible indictment of White House officials and somehow justify
possible criminal conduct by them.
If the CIA was engaging in a war against the President, he has the
full authority to stop them using LEGAL methods as he is their BOSS.
Outing the identity of a covert agent would NOT be a LEGAL method, nor
would it stop any so-called "CIA war." It was merely a vindictive
retaliation for Wilson exposing the Niger forgeries.
If the special prosecutor wishes to ALSO bring indictments against CIA
officials for possible violations of Federal law (NONE were cited in
the press release), so much the better for the rule of law in the U.S.
