Criminal justice system? Why is a mastermind terrorist wandering around Europe free? Bruce http://news.monstersandcritics.com/europe/article_1171649.php/Special_police _team_keeps_track_on_radical_Islamist_report
Munich - German authorities have assigned a crack police team of 24 officers to keep track of a radical Islamist with links to both the September 11 terror attacks and the Madrid train bombings because they lack evidence to detain him, a news magazine reported Saturday. The monitoring of Imam Saddiq Ayub, 39, will continue throughout the World Cup as police mount a massive effort to prevent terror strikes and other violence the weekly Focus said. According to the report Ayub had been sentenced in absentia in Egypt to 25 years in jail for ordering the murder of a secret-service officer. He had admitted to police he knew the Hamburg students who led the 2001 suicide hijackings in the United States. Focus said Ayub was an associate of Rabei Osman al-Sayed, 34, who is on trial in Italy for ordering the 2004 Madrid bombings which killed 192 people. Investigators fear the expected July verdict in Milan may prompt revenge attacks by the radicals. Ayub, who lives in the western German town of Minden, has won a court injunction against deportation home to Egypt. Focus said German prosecutors have now indicted him for sedition because he had given a 'death to all infidels' sermon in the town's al-Rahman Mosque. In the meantime, police working in shifts are watching his home 24 hours a day and tailing him wherever he goes, according to Focus. Traumatized by the terrorist attack that left 11 Israeli athletes dead and marred the 1972 Munich Olympic Games, Germany has placed most of its known Islamic fundamentalists under surveillance during World Cup football tournament.
