Bullets in laptop: Passenger held
NT Bureau
Chennai, June 12:
A computer engineer working in America was last night detained at
the Chennai airport, as two bullets were found concealed in his laptop. He
was not allowed to board the Lufthansa flight bound for the USA (via
Frankfurt to New York) that left by 2.00 this morning.
According to sources, it all happened during the routine check of
passengers belongings before emplaning.
Sources said during the security scan, the machine gave out scary
signals, suggesting something explosive might have been hidden inside.
The passenger identified as Srinivasan (42), said to be a computer
engineer in the US and also a son of a retired judge here, was immediately
stopped.
The officials quickly dis-assembled the offending laptop. Upon
inspection it was found that two bullets, of the kind that are loaded in
AK-47 variety of guns, was hidden in it..
Srinivasan, upon enquiries, said that he did not know how the
bullets found their way into his laptop.
The airport personnel handed him over to the Meenambakkam police.
