WASHINGTON - Al Qaida has released a video that demonstrates the group's priority of killing Americans in Saudi Arabia. The 54-minute video details the role of Turki Bin Fuheid Al Muteiry, regarded as Al Qaida's leading operative in Saudi Arabia. In the video, Al Qaida recorded the capture of a major foreign compound in Khobar in 2004 in which 22 people were executed. Al Muteiry, who Al Qaida identified as a would-be 20th hijacker in the September 2001 suicide strikes on New York and Washington, led the Khobar operation. The video, produced by Al Sahab media committee and obtained by the Virginia-based IntelCenter, includes 27 minutes of audio during which Al Qaida operatives stormed Khobar. "Where are the Americans?" an unidentified Al Qaida operative is heard saying. "Give me the information." Analysts believe the voice was that of Al Muteiry, killed in a gun battle with Saudi security forces in 2004. The audio includes the sounds of screeching cars and gunfire. The Khobar attack marked the last major Al Qaida success against Western nationals in Saudi Arabia. Since then, Al Qaida has been foiled in several major strikes, including a raid on the U.S. consulate in Jeddah in December 2004.
