The second-in-command of al-Qa'eda in Iraq has been captured and has given
up secrets of the organisation's operations, the Iraqi government said
yesterday.
It said that Hamid Juma Faris al-Suaidi, who is also known as Abu Humam or
Abu Rana, was wounded when he was seized and taken into custody for
questioning.
The government said that he was the al-Qa'eda mastermind behind the bombing

al-Qa'eda in Iraq leader, was killed in an airstrike on June 7. Zarqawi was
replaced as the organisation's leader by Abu Ayyub al-Masri.
