TERROR 'IS LIKE NAZI THREAT'
By Oonagh Blackman

JOHN Reid said yesterday the battle against Islamic terrorists was like
the fight against the Nazis.

The Home Secretary said the same efforts to outwit fascists must be used
to defeat fanatics.

He called on the modern equivalents of wartime codebreaker Alan Turing
and bouncing bomb inventor Barnes Wallis.

He said: "They were vital in a technological battle to beat the Nazis.

"So we must utilise our skills and expertise in the battle against terror."

Mr Reid said security and technology companies should devise ways to
preempt the threat.

New devices unveiled yesterday included a machine which sees through
clothes to detect weapons.

More than 380 people have been charged with terror offences since 2001.
