Bush Orders Transfer Of $86.362 Million As Security Aid To Palestine (RTTNews) - US President George Bush on Tuesday directed US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to transfer 86.362 million dollars in aid to the Palestinian security forces under President Mahmoud Abbas's direct control, said the White House. "The idea is to build the legitimate security forces, to help provide law and order in Gaza and the West Bank, fight terror, and to facilitate movement and access especially in Gaza," said national security spokesman Gordon Johndroe. Johndroe added that the aid, meant for security and economic benefits for the Palestinians, will be used only for non-lethal supplies and training. He was speaking after the White House released a memorandum from Bush to Rice directing her to transfer the specified amount in aid to the Palestinians. "We are utilizing West Bank and Gaza Economic Support Funds left over from projects suspended earlier this year.
