NEW DELHI, Jan. 30 India says it may ink oil and gas deals with Libya
and Yemen and set up exploration and production projects in those countries.

Agreements regarding cooperation in the oil and gas sector and also
setting up projects for exploration, production and downstream
activities are on the agenda of the visit of petroleum and natural gas
minister Murli Deora to Libya and Yemen beginning this week, a
government spokesman said at a news briefing. The minister would be
accompanied by a high-level delegation of government officials and the
heads of the state-controlled oil and gas companies. The delegation
would hold bilateral talks with Shukri Ghanem, chairman of the National
Oil Corp. of Libya.

The two sides are set to sign an agreement to facilitate oil companies
in firming up pacts regarding specific projects in the exploration,
production and downstream activities, the spokesman said. He said Oil
India Ltd. and Indian Oil Corp. have plans to extend their participation
in the exploration and production sector of Libya. The consortium
already has two exploration blocks there.
