Mr. Tefft, I don't normally pass this kind of stuff along but I know you have a rather large audience and I thought you might be able to assist in this. You may recall a murder case in 1981 whereby Philadelphia Police Daniel Faulkner was gunned down by a radio personality going by the name of Mumia Abu Jamal. This animal received a death sentence after being convicted by a jury of his peers. The decision was of course appealed. Later, he won a new trial. He was convicted again of murdering a police officer and was again sentenced to death. His new trials and appeals continue to this day, some 25 years after the slaying of one of Philadelphia's finest. I was born and raised in Phila. My brother was a Phila. Police Officer at the time of this killing (now since retired and living in Florida, thank God) and I did most of my policing in Phila., albeit for another agency. Nonetheless, this particular case has been rather close to home for me as a cop. France (gotta love the French) has named an avenue after this animal already and now there is apparently a proposal to do the same in New York City. It is my opinion that any tribute in any way shape or form to this animal is an affront to the memory of Ofc. Daniel Faulkner, his family and law enforcement officers everywhere.
