reports that Dr. Esam Omeish, president of the Muslim American

resigned from Virginia's Commission of Immigration Thursday, just hours
after Gov. Tim Kaine became aware of online videos that show Omeish at
rallies denouncing the invasion of Lebanon by the "Israeli war machine" and
telling a <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lajn3zOoWt4> crowd of
Washington-area Muslims: "...you have learned the way, that you have known
that the jihad way is the way to liberate your land." The latter video was
obtained exclusively by the Investigative Project on Terrorism and can be
viewed <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lajn3zOoWt4> on YouTube, along with
another video <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sb8jKzrvT6I> that shows
Omeish congratulating Palestinians for giving up their lives for the sake
Allah.

Kaine became aware of Omeish's rhetoric on WRVA radio in Richmond when a
caller asked about the Omeish appointment and the videos. The governor
responded, "That is news to me, what you say, and it's something we will
check out."

According to the AP, the governor watched the videos himself and tried to
call Omeish. Mahdi Bray <http://www.investigativeproject.org/profile/112> ,
the head of the MAS Freedom Foundation, said that Omeish was unavailable.

In a statement issued Thursday, Kaine called Omeish "a respected physician
and community leader, yet I have been made aware of certain statements he
has made which concern me. Dr. Omeish indicated that he did not want this
controversy to distract from the important work of the Commission."

Omeish was appointed to the Commission of Immigration in early August. This
20-member panel was created this year to evaluate the effect of federal
immigration policies on Virginia. Omeish's organization, the Muslim American
Society, has close ties with the Muslim Brotherhood - a movement founded in
1928 in Egypt that seeks to reestablish an Islamic state governed according
to the strict tenets of Shariah (Islamic law) that would eventually
encompass the entire world.

Videos Spur Va. Appointee's Resignation

By BOB LEWIS - 2 hours ago

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - A member of the state's Commission on Immigration
resigned Thursday, a few hours after Gov. Timothy M. Kaine was told about
online videos showing the appointee condemning Israel and advocating "the
jihad way."

Kaine learned of the videos from a caller to his live monthly radio program
and accepted the resignation of Dr. Esam S. Omeish about three hours later.

"Dr. Omeish is a respected physician and community leader, yet I have been
made aware of certain statements he has made which concern me," Kaine said
in a news release announcing the resignation.

The governor said Omeish resigned because he did not want the controversy to
distract from the work of the 20-member commission appointed to study the
effects of immigration and federal immigration policies on Virginia.

Omeish, who is president of the Muslim American Society and chief of the
division of general surgery at INOVA Alexandria Hospital, is shown in a
video on YouTube denouncing an invasion of Lebanon by the "Israeli war
machine" during an Aug. 12, 2006, rally in Washington.

He also accuses Israel of genocide and massacres against Palestinians and
says on the video that the "Israeli agenda" controls Congress.

In a separate, undated video, Omeish tells a crowd of Washington-area
Muslims, "... you have learned the way, that you have known that the jihad
way is the way to liberate your land." The video was credited to
Investigative Project, a Washington-based organization that investigates
radical Islamic organizations.

Omeish did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Mahdi Bray, a
spokesman for the MAS, said Omeish was not available.

Omeish was among 10 appointments Kaine made on Aug. 2 to the panel created
this year. The commission met in Richmond for the first time Tuesday.

permission or pay royalties for the use of previously copyrighted materials
if the purposes of display include "criticism, comment, news reporting,

for determining whether the use of a work in any particular case qualifies

criteria to qualify as an instance of "fair use". Rather, "fair use" is
determined by the overall extent to which the cited work does or does not
substantially satisfy the criteria in their totality. If you wish to use
