For those of you who don't know where this is going, they're setting the stage for further abuse of power and the intimidation of those who oppose both creeping Sharia and the usurping of our Republic. Jeff
A grass Roots movement must be investigated, but NOT a jihadist Sharia-supremacist seeking funding from those nations tied to 9/11 itself <http://www.washingtontimes.com/blog/watercooler/2010/aug/17/audio-rep-pelos i> http://www.washingtontimes.com/blog/watercooler/2010/aug/17/audio-rep-pelosi -calls-investigation-wtc-mosque-op/ AUDIO - Rep. Pelosi calls for investigation of WTC mosque opposition Share House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, California Democrat, called for an investigation of those who are protesting the building of the Ground Zero Mosque on Tuesday. She told San Francisco's KCBS radio: AUDIO "There is no question there is a concerted effort to make this a political issue by some. And I join those who have called for looking into how is this opposition to the mosque being funded," she said. "How is this being ginned up that here we are talking about Treasure Island, something we've been working on for decades, something of great interest to our community as we go forward to an election about the future of our country and two of the first three questions are about a zoning issue in New York City." (h/t Kristinn) Calls to investigate the funding for those proposing the $100 million "Cordoba House" have fallen on deaf ears, though, as New York's Mayor Mike Bloomberg has described such an investigation as "un-American." Ms. Pelosi called the Ground Zero mosque an "urban development decision" for New Yorkers to work through. Her remarks happened on the heels of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, parting ways with President Barack Obama on the issue. Mr. Reid suggested the mosque should be built somewhere else. More to come... Of course, she's not interested in looking into the mosque's funding. "I don't think we're going to go and start investigating funding sources for religious organizations or vetting people who preach or pray in religious organizations," the mayor told reporters. "That's just so out of character for what this nation stands for and the way we conduct ourselves," he added. "I've said the government should never, never be in the business of telling people how they should pray or where they can pray. and I think that we want to make sure that everybody from around the world feels comfortable coming here, living here and praying the way they want to pray." "Are there some bad people? Yeah, there are bad people who are jews, bad people who are christians, bad people who are hindus, bad people who are muslims, bad people who are buddhists - there are bad people everywheres," he added. < <http://www.politico.com/blogs/maggiehaberman/0710/Bloomberg_not_in_favor_of > http://www.politico.com/blogs/maggiehaberman/0710/Bloomberg_not_in_favor_of _Lazios_mosque_probe_request_.html?showall> Pelosi, August 17 calls for investigating those who oppose the mosque: "There is no question there is a concerted effort to make this a political issue by some. Pelosi's Net worth: <http://sroblog.com/2010/06/16/pelosi%E2%80%99s-net-worth-shows-a-sharp-upti c> http://sroblog.com/2010/06/16/pelosi%E2%80%99s-net-worth-shows-a-sharp-uptic k-roll-call/ The California Democrat was already one of the 50 richest Members of Congress, largely based on the strength of her husband's broad real estate and investment portfolio. In 2008, she had reported assets worth at least $25.2 million. According to her new disclosure report, in 2009 Pelosi's assets increased to a minimum of $29.7 million, mostly because of the addition of two assets worth $1 million to $5 million - an investment fund specializing in Asian ventures and a United Football League team. But the minimum value of the Speaker's liabilities dropped significantly in 2009. In 2008 she had reported a mortgage on a vineyard worth at least $5 million. In 2009, that mortgage was listed as having a value of $1 million to $5 million. For the purposes of Roll Call's accounting method, that liability is counted as $1 million, though it is possible that the value of the liability only dropped from $5.1 million to $4.9 million. Under Roll Call's traditional accounting method, Pelosi's overall liabilities dropped from $12.8 million to $8 million. Subtracting her minimum liabilities from her minimum assets, Pelosi's minimum net worth appears to almost double, from $12.5 million in 2008 to $21.7 million in 2009.
