Friday, October 8, 2010 ISLAMIC MILITANTS IN MONACO <http://1.bp.blogspot.com/__Ei_dKIFdx0/TK8yxgGtRFI/AAAAAAAABPg/-vTzkZAcPnE/s1600/muslimDM_468x275.jpg> Sufi Hassan SHERIFF, 57, from Sri Lanka, has lived in Monaco since February 1987 and is known by Monaco police as an Islamic fundamentalist militant. SHERIFF was a founding member of the (now defunct) Union Islamique de Menton, whose headquarters were at 85 avenue de Sospel, Menton. Vinicio PONZIANI, an Italian resident in Monaco since 1952, is the grand-daddy of Islamic activity in the region. PONZIANI, along with Adnan SGHAIER, 58, and Sufi Hassan SHERIFF, created the (now defunct) Union Islamique de Menton in 1989, and was one of its principal financiers. SGHAIER, from Tunisia, resides in Menton and works as a technician in Monaco. Union Islamique de Menton was also SCHAIER's home. Rebalben Cherif GRAMI, 59, from Algeria, arrived in France in 1972 and found his way to Cap d'ail, and a job as headwaiter at the Balmoral Hotel in Monaco. GRAMI joined the ranks of Islamic Fundamentalists in the late 1980s and became a collector of funds. He is known by Monaco's police to have threatened people to raise money.
