April 6th, 2011 4:22 pm ET On Tuesday, Edwin Carrillo-Garcia, 23, was in court for a bond hearing after he was charged with sexual battery, kidnapping and resisting arrest for allegedly raping a 16-year-old fellow church member in Homestead. According to police, the victim was approached by Carrillo-Garcia as she waited for her ride outside the Church of God in the 200 block of Northeast 2nd Road. He offered to take her home and she accepted. The girl told officers that once she was in the car, Carrillo-Garcia began asking for sex, and drove her to a location in Southwest Miami-Dade. The girl refused his advances and began to cry. That's when the Guatemalan national reportedly pulled the girl's pants off and raped her in his vehicle. After the rape, Carrillo-Garcia asked the girl for directions and drove her home, the police report states. Miami-Dade Police Detective Roy Rutland told The Miami Herald: "This was a dangerous situation. The girl may have trusted him because they went to church together. He took her to a remote area and now he's charged with raping her and kidnapping her." Police say he has admitted to forcing himself on the girl after she repeatedly pleaded with him to stop.
